The Dynamics of Presidential Reality Testing: Evidence from Two Vietnam Decisions
Fred I. Greenstein and John P. Burke explore the preconditions for effective use of advice and information in presidential decision making. They compare and contrast the responses of the Eisenhower administration in 1954 and of the Johnson administration in 1965 to an incipient Communist victory in Vietnam.
